Yvonne Denise Long

Yvonne Denise Long, 59, departed this life on Monday, August 28th, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 11 a.m. at West Side Cemetery, Lorenzo, TX under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, September 15th, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.Yvonne Denise Long was born to Lenora and Tommie Long, Sr. on September 3rd, 1963, in Jackson County. She attended school in Eagle Lake and Lubbock, Texas where she played sports. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord & Savor at Mount Pleasant Baptist church where she was baptized. She lived her life in various cities, and counties, but her home was Houston, Texas, where she lived for the remainder of her life. She worked at various restaurants and clothing stores. But her favorite job was working at DD’s Clothing Store where she made a host of friends.

I loved my life, my family, and friends. The journey here on earth was fun. I have created some great memories with my loved ones. Please don’t cry for me, but dance for me. Be happy for me that I am at peace, no more suffering in silence, and my soul is at rest at my Father’s Home. God makes no mistakes, and he called me home because it was my time.

She is preceded in by her parents, Lenora & Tommie Long; brothers, Kevin Long, James Long, and Gerald Scott; sisters, Beverly Scott, Dorris Long, Breyon Long, and Rita Douglass; nephew, Phillip Long.

She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughters, Alexis Long and Ruthie Collier; son, Alex Long; sister, Tonette Long; brother, Tony Long; 10 grandchildren, one grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
