Terri Lynn Jefferson Richards

Terri Lynn Jefferson Richards, 62, departed this life on Monday, March 27, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, April 7, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Viewing will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Terri was born on March 13, 1961, to Van Jefferson and Betty Freow Jefferson in Levelland, Texas. Terri graduated from Coronado High School in 1919, she went on to study at South Plains College and West Texas A&M. After graduating from Methodist Hospital (currently Providence Health) nursing program she started her first job at Methodist Hospital as a registered nurse kickstarting a 30-year career in the medical field. Terri gave her life to Christ as a young woman in college following her mother’s early death. She had memberships at Ford Memorial, Agape Temple, and New Hope Church. She served at Holy Tabernacle of Praise for over 20 years and in her final years at Holy Trinity Praise and Worship. She enjoyed singing in the choir, nurturing young women, and was a powerful warrior of prayer. In 1983, she gave birth to her only child, whom she brought up on her own. Terri met and married her Gerald Richards in 2001 in Lubbock, Texas. In 2012, Terri retired and spent her time dedicating herself to working with the church, taking care of her husband and elderly father. She was a help to everyone who needed a friend, a mother, a hug or just a word of encouragement. She believed in God and served Him with everything until He called her home. Her death was preceded by her paternal and maternal grandparents, her parents, Van and Betty Jefferson; her aunts, uncles, and her husband, Gerald Richards. She is survived by her daughter, Christina Jefferson; sister, Patricia Jefferson; stepmom, Lillian Jefferson; aunt, and a host of family and friends.
