Sylvia Ruth Ray Craddock, 74, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 1 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, March 17, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. On April 13, 1948, in Hugo Oklahoma the miracle of birth was bestowed upon Cornell Roy and Ola Lee Robinson Roy with a beautiful baby girl whom they named Sylvia Ruth Roy. The family moved to Littlefield, Texas in 1955, where she met and married Mr. Charles A. Craddock on October 11, 1965, upon their union three children were born. After Charles and Sylvia moved to Lubbock, Texas where she resided until her passing on March 10, 2023. Sylvia worked at Piccadilly’s Restaurant, Furr’s Cafeteria, Hilton Inn Hotel, lastly at Lubbock Airport until her retirement. Once retired Sylvia became self-employed by opening her own candy store which became one of the greatest joys because of the meaningful, joyful, and wonderful connections she shared with all that she served for over 30 plus years, Sylvia was cherished and loved by whomever she came across because of her generous heart and her loving spirit. She is preceded in death by her parents, Cornell Roy and Ola Lee Boxton, mother-in-law, Jonell Vines; son, Arthur D. Craddock; brothers, Nathaniel Roy, Roosevelt Roy, Victor Moore, Lee Savage, Edgar Jones, Oscar Gray, and James Hall. She leaves to cherish her memory; her husband, Charles Craddock; common law husband, Albert Guess; daughter, Elaine Craddock Anderson; bonus daughter, Gail Hines; son, Lewis (Stacy) Craddock; 10 grandchildren, Tabrodrick Craddock, Dyrel Craddock (Alasia), Shanikka Owens (DeVerick), Shannon Craddock, Chris Jones, Tywon Morrison, Kavon Craddock, Alyssa Melecion, Nathaniel Melecion, and Katlyn Craddock; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Blackshire, Patricia Vines, Ann Radoway (Willie), Sarah Harris (Freddie), Jonitsa Vines, Yvonne Joe (Dee), and Yvette Moore (Justin); nieces, Rita Gray, Cecilia Rosser, Connie Williams (Ivan), Ollie Gray, Lola Roy, Lora Gray, and La’Randa Johnson; nephews, Charles Jones, Jerry Gray, Sam Jones, Michael Gray, Clarence Gray, Donald Gray, Chad Moore, Arnie Jones, and Johnny Gray; a host of other relatives and friends.
