Shunette Madkins Gerber, 45, departed this life on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Griffin Mortuary Chapel. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Shunette Madkins was born July 6, 1978, in Dallas, Texas at Parkland Hospital to the parents of Lessie Faye Smith (Willie Coleman) and Lonzo Madkins. Shunette attended kindergarten and first grade in Seagraves TX. She Finished growing up in Hobbs NM. Shunette attended New Mexico Junior College majoring in criminal justice and law and graduating on the president’s A Honors roll. Shunette worked all her adult life, she loved her job and helping others. Shunette was a very outspoken person, she loved and cherished her family (Siblings Oliver Madkins and Clarissa Hills) and friends. Shunette birthed three children Kevin T. Madkins, Traven S. Madkins, and Trent D.(Mykenzi) Madkins and was a Grandmother to Camille, Deshawn, and Dante Madkins of Hobbs NM. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Malachi and Annie H. Smith, Antone and Williebell Madkins along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. She leaves to cherish her memory; her mother, Lessie Smith; her fathers, Lonzo Madkins and Willie Coleman; brother, Oliver Madkins; sister, Clarissa Hills; grandchildren, Camille Madkins, Deshawn Madkins, and Dante Madkins; a host of other relatives and friends.
