Robert Acosta Tarin (61) of Lubbock, TX passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024 in Lubbock, TX. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
Robert was born in Pecos, TX on July 01, 1963, to Tomasa Acosta Tarin. His father is Bill Walter “Baril” Rheude from Odessa, TX. Robert was raised by his grandparents, the late Santiago Tarin and Benita Acosta Tarin from Pecos, TX. In his early teens, Robert had already acquired a love for classic cars and lowriders. He worked at Garcia’s Body Shop in Pecos, TX where the owner Ambrosio “Bocho” Garcia taught Robert the craft of auto body repair and paint. He loved drawing classic cars and transforming them into lowriders, and he had great talent with his free hand artistry. With his love of classic lowrider cars and trucks came the love for oldies music, from the ‘50s and ‘60s. He was very proud of his collection of oldies music. Not a day went by that he did not have music playing, day and night. Robert also learned the skill of carpentry work and was a man of many trades. In his later years, Robert became a member of the ‘Estilo Car Club’ in Lubbock, TX. and he took pride in the members’ classic cars and trucks that he helped repair. His love for lowriders was definitely lifelong.
Robert was preceded in death by his brother Jesus “Jesse” Acosta Tarin, Big Spring, TX, his aunts Maria Tarin Franco, Pecos, TX, and Ester Tarin Marquez, Snyder, TX., his mother Tomasa Acosta Tarin, Pecos, TX, and maternal grandparents Santiago and Benita Acosta Tarin, Pecos, Tx, paternal grandfather Roland Rollo Rheude, Sr., Chicago, Illinois, and paternal grandmother Eustolia Millan, Odessa, TX.
Robert is survived by his three sons, Alex Tarin, Houston, TX, Manuel Robert Tavarez, Odessa, TX, and Robert Tarin, Jr., Austin, TX.
Robert is also survived by several siblings; Becky Tarin Capetillo, Snyder, TX, Debra Lara Reyes, Pecos, TX, Joe Robert Lara, Abrahan Tarin, Lubbock, TX, surviving aunt is Juanita Tarin Rico, Barstow, TX, surviving uncles are Jesse Acosta Tarin, and James Acosta Tarin, both of Pecos, TX. Also surviving are two granddaughters, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
