Ricky Lee Westbrook, 65, departed this life on Thursday, April 20, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 1 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Viewing will be held Friday, May 5, 2023, at Griffin Mortuary from 3 to 6 p.m. Ricky Westbrook was born on March 11, 1958, in Lubbock, Texas to the parentage of Emmit West and Clara Mae West Tucker. Ricky enjoyed his youth years in Lubbock, he graduated from Dunbar High School. He accepted Christ at an early age. He later met the love of his life. He enjoyed teaming up with his wife on the domino table, he stayed ready to talk trash to whoever stayed ready to talk trash to whoever sat at the table and he and his wife was always ready to beat you at the domino table. He started to work for the Department of Public Safety in 1988, and he retired in 2010, and went on to work for the City of Lubbock in 2012, and later retired. He married Janice on June 29, 1985. He was a dedicated husband until the very end. He is preceded in death by his father, Emmit West; his mother, Clara Mae West Tucker; his stepfather, Samuel Tucker; and his brother, Tommy Lee Westbrook. He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 39 years, Janice Westbrook; his son, Jason Rainey; two granddaughters, Kenyatta Harkey and Kayleigh Burrell; two sisters, Ervetta Avery of Austin, Texas; and Dianne Westbrook of Lubbock, Texas; one aunt, Rena Duncan; two nieces, Germaine Avery Johnson and LaTisha Avery Robinson; two nephews, Andre’ Porter and Tomarick Westbrook; a host of other relatives and friends.
