Pedro Ogeda, Jr.

May 8, 1948 — October 21, 2024

Seminole

Pedro Ogeda Jr., 74, of Seminole, Texas, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, from 11 am to 5 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.  A graveside service and burial of his ashes will be held at a later date at Gaines County Cemetery in Seminole, Texas, where he will rest alongside his parents, Pedro Sr. and Manuela Ogeda.

He was born on May 8, 1948, in Thornton, Texas, to Pedro Sr. and Manuela Ogeda.

Pedro was preceded in death by his beloved partner Emma Gomez, his parents, Pedro Sr. and Manuela, and his sisters Faye Perez, Juanita Gonzalez, Rachel Ybarra, and Katy Medina, along with several nieces and nephews. He is survived by three sisters: Nolberta Salinas and Dolores Lopez of Abernathy, Texas, and Lupe Velasquez of Hobbs, New Mexico, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pedro was a true character — a jokester with a sharp tongue who brought joy to many through his humor. He had a great love for spending quality time with his family, enjoying music, and searching for treasures at garage sales.

One of my fondest memories of Pedro is his quirky tradition of announcing, no matter the time of year, “Ya mero es Easter.” His playful spirit is something we will all miss dearly.
