Ora Bell (Reed) Washington, 76, departed this life on Sunday, February 2, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Praise Center Ministries. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held Friday, February 14, 2025, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Griffin Mortuary. Ora Bell (Reed) Washington was born to Nathaniel Reed and Virginia (Wilson) Reed on November 26th, 1948, in Knox City, Texas. She married Tommy Lee Washington of Avondale, AZ. She gave birth to six children. She was a hard worker. She worked for Underwood Café and Lubbock National Linen Service for several years. She was well known by many wherever she lived. Some people called her, ‘Ms. Bell " or" Ms. Lady”, and sometimes she needs a little bit more respect! She would say, “that’s Mrs. Washington to you!”
Bell enjoyed music, dancing, singing, watching cowboy movies, and the cooking show, “Pioneer Woman.” She lived in Lubbock, Texas for many years and moved to Austin, Texas in 1997, until she was called home.
Mrs. Washington was a beautiful, sweet down to earth, and energy filled out going woman. If you know her, then you know she would feed you when you were hungry. She would give you a place to lay your head if you needed it. She would loan you money if you needed it. That was the good will spirit of Mrs. Washington.
Mrs. Ora Bell (Reed) Washington is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Leon Sheppard and Nathaniel Reed, Jr., six sisters Dorothy McKever, Doris Sharper, Willie Lucille Mooney, Bennie McGee, Ethel Hall, and Rebecca Gray, her husband Tommy Lee Washington, Sr., two sons Andy D. Washington and Briant K. Washington, and one granddaughter Zanquinnette LaShea Washington.
Mrs. Ora Bell (Reed) Washington leaves behind to mourn her death her son Tommy Lee Washington, Jr., three daughters Lannette Rhonda Washington-Harris, Charisse Renea Washington-Davis, and Amy Diane Washington, her 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She will be missed by many!
