Michael Thomas, 51, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Viewing will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Turning Point Church, Lubbock, TX. Celebration of Life Service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Cook-Walden Cemetery, Austin, TX under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Michael was born on November 27th, 1972, at Saint Mary of the Plains hospital in Lubbock Texas to the union of Partishue and Albert Thomas. He was the oldest of 3 children. He was dedicated at an early age at Christ Temple Church of God in Christ in Lubbock Texas under Reverend Haynes Senior. He continued with his faith throughout his life.
Michael attended Lubbock High School where he graduated in 1991. While excelling in his academic studies he participated in athletic sports such as football, track, and tennis. He then went on to serve in the US Navy. After he left the Navy, he went on to work at Texas Instruments and from there the Lubbock Heart hospital. Michael then achieved his license in Real Estate. His most recent career was in PYCO Industries. Throughout all his career endeavors he was well loved and liked.
Within Michael’s past time he loved to partake in creative arts, skating and shopping. He also enjoyed dining out and spending time with his friends and family. Those who knew Michael knew he was a car enthusiast.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents: Partishue and Albert Thomas, great grandmother: Rosie Lee Sims, his grandparents: Genice Thomas, Jessie Holmes, Julious Conner, his uncle: Bill Clay Connor, his aunts: Barbara Jean Onion, Carolyn Nicole Conner, D’Angela Conner and his niece Semaya Simon.
Michael leaves to cherish his loving memories of two children; Valerie Picaso and Isaiah Thomas, three grandchildren and one expecting; Anibal Vasquez, Alianna Villareal and Mireya Jimenez, two siblings; Courtney Simon and Anthony Thomas, a nephew Steven Simon and a host of aunts, uncles and friends.
