Mary Ruth Moore

Mary R. Moore, 67, departed this life on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Hope Deliverance Temple Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Viewing will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Mary R. Moore was born to Ella Willard and M. H. Askew on April 20th, 1956, in Clovis, New Mexico. She attended Dunbar High School and later established a warehouse worker career. She married Floyd Lee Dixon on October 16, 2001 and was married for 18 years until his death in 2019. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved playing bingo and spending time with her daughters and grandkids. She held her great grandkids near and dear to her heart. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ella Jewel Willard; her father, M.H. Askew; stepfather, Collie B. Willard, Sr.; and her husband Floyd Dixon; two sisters, Viola Willard and Surrenia Willard; five brothers, Clarence Willard, Carl Willard, R.C. Willard, Donald Ray Willard, and Collie B. Willard, Jr.; one granddaughter, Keyonna Thompson. She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughters, Octavia Willard (Darrick) and Chantell Moore (Dante) also of Houston, TX; her brothers, Royal Willard (Beatrice) of Lubbock, TX; Leonard Earl Willard and Sammy Willard both of Littlefield, TX; her sisters, Patsy Traylor (Torey) and Sheral Reynolds (Noe) both of Lubbock, TX; Mildred Willard of Sacramento, CA; Brenda Draper, and Ruby Neal; her grandchildren, Trovon “Bleek” Hicks (Oddessy), Traylin “Tray Tray” Hicks, Jalen “JJ” Contee (Celeste), Kailen “Mini Loc” Moore, A’Qyeria Montgomery, Lavontia “Pookie” Oliver; her great-grandchildren, Armanii Hicks, Keyonna Moore, Madilynn Contee, Mckenzie Contee and Jalen Contee, Jr.; best friends, Cleopatra Bonner and Nancy Ward; a host of other relatives and friends.
