Leonard “Kit” Burns Jr, 89. Leonard Burns Jr, went to be with our Lord, March 17, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, March 24, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Community Baptist Church. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary. Leonard was born on June 9, 1933 in Dimebox, Tx to the late Leonard Burns and Albirdia Ewings. When he moved to Lubbock he met the love of his life, Louise. They were married May 6, 1966, together they built a legacy of love, faith and family. Leonard retired from Plains Co-Op Mill after 36 years of service as a Lab Technician. He enjoyed fishing, talking sports, ‘tending to his hogs and watching Walker the Texas Ranger. The greatest title he held was “Papa.” Leonard instilled the value of hard work in each of his children and grandchildren. He would help you with anything you asked but only if he saw you try to achieve it without him first. He never complained and was so unintentionally funny that you just wanted to be around him. He is proceeded in death by his parents, brothers; Floyd and Leo Burns, sister; Altha Mae Lovings, and son, Robert Lowery. His is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Louise Burns, son, Leonard Burns Jr (Karin) of Germany, daughters; Debora Kelly (Greg), of Lubbock, Tx and Cheryl Lowery, of Richardson, Tx, sisters; Lucille Hudgen and Deloris Alford both of Houston, Tx. His 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, Amir “Beanhead” White.
