Leo Jr. Eddington, age 68, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on April 11, 2025. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, April 25th, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Broadway Church of Christ. Interment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Thursday, April 24th, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
Leo was born June 4, 1956 to the parentage of Willie Mae Eddington (Berry) and Allen Ray Goodson in Lubbock, Tx. He was the second child of five children. He attended Lubbock Public Schools. In high school he enjoyed playing basketball, football, and was a member of the Golden Glove Boxing Club. Throughout his life, Leo remained deeply rooted in his faith growing up in Alexander Chapel where he nurtured his relationship with God.
Leo worked in carpentry throughout his youth and adult life, known for his craftsmanship, painting skills, and strong work ethic. In 1997, he became a dedicated board member of the Open Door Organization, faithfully attending every summer retreat and ministry trip until his health no longer allowed. His commitment to serving others and sharing in fellowship remained steadfast over the years. He loved watching football, playing dominoes, dancing, taking car rides, and spending time with his large and loving family. His presence was a constant source of strength and joy.
Leo is preceded in death by his mother Willie Mae Berry, father Allen Ray Goodson, sisters Jessie Mae Eddington, Bernice (Rooster) Patterson, and brother Gary Berry.
He is survived by his daughters Charisse Huey (Kenneth), LaQueenah Carrington, Rashidah Butler, Tameka Eddington, Ebony Eddington (affectionately known to him as Pie), Shantae Eddington (Jesse), and niece that he took in as a daughter Jessica Eddington; his son Sedrick L. Eddington (Lisa); sisters Jonie White (Ted) and Verinell Thomas; brother Ray Allen; beloved bonus brothers James " Jimmy Jam" Childress and John Childress; his long life friend and common-law wife Teressa Eddington also known to him as Annie Mae. He is lovingly remembered by his 30 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of special nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Leo's life was a testament to love, faith, and family. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
