Karen Jean Davis Black

Karen Jean (Davis) Black, 59 departed this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Cagle. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Karen Jean (Davis) Black, born April 22, 1964, in Long Beach, California. Karen was raised in Tucumcrai, New Mexico by her mother with her brother and sisters. She moved to Lubbock where she worked as a barber for 35 years. She tended bar on and off for years and was known and loved by many. Karen loved to play scrabble and do puzzles in her free time, but her favorite pastime was playing the slots. Karen loved to hang out with her friends, talk to her customers, and visit a variety of casinos. She will be missed by all of her family and friends.
Karen is preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Davis, mother, Viola Davis, grandmother, Corine Romero, and nephew, Jordan Davis. Karen is survived by sisters, Tracy Davis and Julie Mills (Kelly), brother. Ronnie Davis (Kaylene), stepdaughter, Marcie Stabeno, nephews, Zachary Davis and Darrien Chacon, niece, Tawni Davis, Aunt Gloria Zacarias, best friend, LeeAnn Hancock, and numerous cousins and friends.
