Julius "Papo" Sheffield

Julius “Papo” Sheffield, 82, of Lubbock passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, with his wife and granddaughter lovingly by his side. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:30 am at Greenlawn Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, from 4pm to 6pm at Griffin Mortuary. 

 Julius was born on June 29, 1942, to Howard and Lorine Sheffield in Henderson, TX.

During his teenage years, Julius and his family moved to Olton, TX where he met the love of his life, Carolyn. After many years of working on a farm together Julius and Carolyn relocated to Lubbock, TX where they had four beautiful children.

Julius worked for U.S. Food Services for 32 years, and was an extremely hard worker who was dedicated and determined to provide for his family and give them the best life possible.

In his retirement, Julius enjoyed going to church, bowling, watching sports, playing dominoes with his neighbor Joe, and spending quality time with his grandchildren. His family. Meant more to him than anything else in the world and he was endlessly proud of his children and grandchildren.

Julius is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Lorine Sheffield, his daughter Yolanda Sheffield, several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Carolyn Sheffield, his children Rickie (Danielle), D’wayne (Leesa), and Glenn (Remetra) all of Dallas, TX, his sister Irene Springer of Albuquerque, NM, his brother Willie Howard Sheffield of Olton, TX, his ten beloved grandchildren Adriana, Audrey, Sabrina, Kionte’, Kendrick, Khirstia, Nylan, Nysir, Albert, and Ka’Darien, three great grandchildren Amari, Legend, and Laia, and a host of other relatives and friends.
