Gregory Howard Carter, 69, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Celebration of life Service will be held Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11 am at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Gregory Howard Carter was born on May 30, 1955, in Lubbock, Texas, to Patsy Ruth Hodge Carter. He spent his formative years lovingly raised by his grandparents, Julie and Ralph Hodge Sr., along with his aunts, Lorean Hodge and Josephine Hodge Adams, and his uncle, Johnnie Lee Hodge.

As an adult, Gregory moved to California, where he built lasting friendships and cherished memories under the guidance of his Uncle Ralph Hodge Jr. and Elsie Marie Hodge. In 2013, he returned to his hometown of Lubbock, Texas, where he lived until his passing.

After a long and courageous battle with health issues, Gregory passed away on December 11, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Patsy Ruth Hodge Carter, who he cherished deeply.

He is lovingly survived by his two sisters, Sandra Carter Pyant and Beverly Carter Lewis; two nieces, Tanyita Bones and Lauren Pyant; two nephews, Terrell Lewis and Tyrone Lewis; his Uncle Ralph Hodge Jr.; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends who brought him joy and support throughout his life. He will also be deeply missed by his loving friend, Sara Dunn Carter.

Gregory’s kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for family and friends leave a lasting legacy. He will be forever remembered and cherished by those who knew him.

May he rest in heavenly peace.
