George Trellis “Geet” Masey, 45, of Lubbock, Texas, ended his journey on this earth on July 4, 2024. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Redbud Baptist Church. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. George was born on October 19, 1978, in Slaton, Texas, to George and Linda Masey. He was the middle of three children and the first boy.
As a young child, George loved to help his family on their farm growing various fruits and vegetables. George attended school at Slaton ISD where he excelled and was known for his friendly personality and his academic success. In high school, George was in the Slaton Tiger band where he played tuba and French horn. He also maintained a 4.0 GPA.
After graduating, George worked as an assistant manager and head of customer service at Toys “R” Us where he loved hosting Pokémon tournaments as a trainer and helping children find the best toys. When he left Toys “R” Us, George went on to be a manager for Subway where he crafted delicious sandwiches for his many regular customers.
George was known for his loving and generous nature. He cared deeply for others. When a difficult situation arose, George could be counted on to lighten the mood with sarcasm and jokes.
George found love when he met Heather Batterton in 2010. They later married and had a son, Jakob, who was the light of George’s life. Family was important to George. When he was younger, he enjoyed spending time with his aunts and taking his cousins shopping for their favorite toys. He was always very close with his mother.
George loved superheroes and action figures. He spent countless hours collecting and displaying his many beloved figures. He was always excited for the next “Superman” movie or figures and couldn’t wait to show his newest collection to his younger brother.
George was loved by everyone he knew and brought joy to the lives of many. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his caretaker, Heather Masey; his son, Jakob Masey; his stepdaughters, Kathleen Benton and Natasha Masey; his stepson, Michael Benton; his older sister, Shawnda Masey; his younger brother, LeRoi Masey and wife Jantcy; 9 nieces and nephews, 4 great nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. George was preceded in death by his grandparents Walter Masey, Delma Masey, Elzie Yancey, and Leonna Yancey; his father, George Bellany Masey; and his mother, Linda Sue Masey.
