Frank Wade Carter, 90, passed peacefully in his home surrounded by family on January 7, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, May 26, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Santa Fe Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. He was born August 22, 1932, to Frank and Odie Carter in Rogers, New Mexico; after graduating high school in Rogers, New Mexico, he received a greeting letter from the Army and joined on September 25, 1952, until his discharge on August 20, 1954, honorably receiving three medals for serving in the Korean War. Wade married his wife, Bonnie, on July 22, 1956, and they honeymooned in Lemon Lake, Colorado, a place where they would share lifelong love of camping every summer until Bonnie’s passing in 2000. Wade worked as a cow hand for a few years and on October 1, 1959, he joined the Lubbock Police Department as a sergeant of the motorcycle division from which he served 31 years until his retirement in 1990. After retiring, Wade moved back to New Mexico, and in 2014, he moved back to Lubbock. Wade is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie McCurdy Carter; two brothers, Weldon Odie Carter and Harold DeWitt Carter. Wade leaves to cherish his memory; his two daughters, Karessa Louise Douglass and Phyllis Diane Minton; his sister, Wanda Lou Jones; his grandchildren, Theressa Ann Douglass, Lynsy Cameron Manzanares, and Nicholas Wade Jones; his great-grandchildren, Brittany Taylor Hardman, Desiree Liana Jones, Bethany Noel Douglass, Tilden Wade Brown, and Dallas Denton Douglass Cain; a host of other relatives and friends.
