    Farris Ann Whaley, 52, departed this life on Sunday, May 7, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Slaton. Interment will follow at Englewood Cemetery, Slaton, under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Viewing will be held Friday, May 19, 2023, at Griffin Mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m. Farris Ann Whaley was born on November 1, 1970, to David, Sr. and Ina Faye Whaley in Lubbock, Texas.
    Farris attended Roosevelt Public Schools and shortly moved to Slaton, Texas and attended Slaton Public Schools. Farris worked in Hotels and Restaurant Management.
    Farris loved to spend time with her kids, grandkids, and family. Dancing for the kids was something she loved to do. Farris was known for her making peanut butter cookies with her niece growing up in Slaton. She loved to hang out on the porch with her family. She was surly the life of the party. She traveled a lot to Fort Worth, Texas to spend time with her family. There was never a dull moment when she was around. We can see her now dancing with Darren and KeeKee beyond the sky. We will truly miss our beloved Farris.
She is preceded in death by her father, David Whaley, Sr.; brothers, Ronnie Whaley and Darrell McDaniel; grandparents, Moren, Sr. and Minnie Whaley, Mr. & Mrs. Knight; grandson, Darren Nicholes; and granddaughter, Kizaria Antionette Devroe.
    Farris leaves to cherish her memory; her mother, Ina Faye Knight of Slaton, Texas; three sons, Jamarlon Jamar Whaley, James Stanley Devroe, Jr., and Troymaris Deshawn Devroe; three sisters, Maleigh Whaley of Fort Worth, Texas, Michelle Avery of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Debora Fountain of Lubbock, Texas; five brothers, David Whaley, Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas, Jerry Whaley of Slaton, Texas, Danny Whaley also of Slaton, Texas, Fritz McDaniel and Derrick Perry both of Lubbock, Texas; special niece, Victoria Whaley; 16 grandchildren, 6 step children, two great-grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
