It is said that when life begins, it is like an open book with many blank pages. Evonne’s pages, in this life, began on December 22, 1941, and every day since her deeds have been recorded page by page until her story in this life ended on December 12, 2024. On this last day of her life, she opened her eyes and saw her name written in the Book of Life. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11 am at Resurrected Zoe Life Ministries. Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
In addition, Evonne is predeceased in life by her parents, Rufus Conner and Charlsey May English Conner, her brothers, Floyd Harold Harris and Bobby Joe Kirvens, and her sister, Olivia Thompson. She is also predeceased in life by her grandchildren Shanequa Mo’nek Jackson, Kenneth Brian Ingram Jr., Quintin Geriod Lewis, and her niece Misty Dawn Harris.
Evonne leaves to cherish her legacy of life her loving husband, Elder Roy Rogers, of over 30 years of marriage; two sons, Shelton Gerrod Williams and Clayton Levon Morris both of Lubbock, Texas; a daughter Nichelle Conner (Tim) of North Carolina; five grandchildren; Breauna Barbee (Joshua) of North Carolina; Clayton Baxter (Brenda) of Lubbock, Texas; Erica Ruggles (Bobby) of Lubbock, Texas; Akeeya Ward of Lubbock, Texas; Ashely Wellington of Lubbock, Texas; and Kendra Williams of Atlanta Georgia; five nephews, Michael Conner (Missy) of Lubbock, Texas; Bernard Conner of Lubbock, Texas; and Terrance Conner of Lubbock, Texas, Alan Harris, and Shane Harris. She was also fortunate to experience the love of many great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
Evonne was many things in her life to many people, such as a faithful woman of God, daughter, mother, wife, and grandmother who cared for everyone, even those who did not share her views. She also worked unselfishly in the healthcare industry for many years, caring for those who could not care for themselves. Later in her life, she was fortunate enough to have free time to do as she pleased, such as giving out pearls of wisdom and knowledge, playing dominoes with her husband, Roy Rogers as well as completing many, many, many hours of studying her bible and working on word search puzzles.
As her daughter, if I were asked to describe my mother, it would take several pages, therefore, I will use those others have experienced: Wise, Courageous, Selfless, Strong, Compassionate, Caring, Determined, Sassy, and Giving! However, if she had to describe herself, she would say,
“I am Marvelous, Fabulous, and Awesome!”
