Emma Jean Adams, 72 of Lubbock, departed this life on Friday, June 9, 2023. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, June 23rd, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Church of the Nations. Private Disposition under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Ms. Emma Jean Adams was born in Houston, TX on September 4th, 1950, to B. B. Adams and Ruby Adams. They moved to Lubbock in 1951. Emma attended Ella Iles and Dunbar from 7th – 12th grade. She graduated in 1970. She worked in daycares and was a caregiver, also worked at Covenant Hospital and took care of many of our children. She moved back to Houston in 1975, where she worked at Amoco Oil Company for 32 years. She moved back to Lubbock in 2008 where she cared for her mother. Emma loved people and they loved her too. Emma also joined the military for a short time and made many friends. Emma loved the Lord; she gave her life to him at a young age and worked in the church. Emma will be greatly missed. Emma is preceded in death by her parents, B. B. Adams and Ruby Adams; and one sister, Frankie Brown all of Lubbock. Emma leaves beautiful memory to her only daughter, Toshia Adams (Will); two grandchildren, Ta’Mongdtrick Adams (Tyresha) and BraDazia Adams (LaMonte); three grandchildren, An’Brielle Adams, Landon Bryant, and Az’Lynn Adams all of Lubbock, TX; child’s father, Gene Gaines of Dallas, TX; two stepsons, William and DJ Contee both of Lubbock, TX; two sisters, Roberta Rogers of Houston, TX; and Patsy Bonds of California; two brothers, Derby Pearson of Mexico; and Toby Pearson (Camellia) of California; three special childhood friends for 65 years, Brenda Bagley, Lee Ivory Robinson, and June Long; sister/cousin, R’Leatha “DeDe” Jones; a host of other relatives and friends.
