Private Disposition will follow under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Elizabeth Delores Evans (Liz) was born December 26, 1937. Liz is the daughter of Jack and Lillie Glaspie, of Lubbock, TX, who had 16 children; 8 boys and 8 girls.

Liz’s formative years were spent in Lubbock, TX, where she graduated from Dunbar High School.

Liz was married to Charles Gene Caraway Sr in Lubbock, TX. Their children are Charles Gene Caraway Jr and Bonnie Gayle Harris. This union was dissolved and Liz moved to Denver in 1962.

In Denver, she met and married Lonzell (Zeke) Evans, who brought Vanessa Evans and Wayne Evans to the union. Liz and Zeke had 2 children, Teresa Joyce Evans and Leonist Elroy Evans. Her Denver home hosted many holidays and events with family and friends.

She worked in the Denver Public School system and in various retail outlets. In 1982 Liz retired and became a foster parent where she believed a child deserved safety and stability which she provided for the numerous children she served for over 15 years. She fostered children in Denver and continued when she returned home to Lubbock in 2009.

Liz loved buying anything and everything from the Home Shopping Network and her home was decorated with beautiful figurines, dolls, plastic grapes and flowers. She loved to dress for the occasion and her jewelry was readily visible to match her denim, coat and shoe game!

Liz was affectionately known as Big Mama to many family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Eloise Garnett, Viola McKelvey, Mollie Evans, Pollie Glaspie, Loretta Glaspie, Narvy Glaspie (Kate), Phillip Glaspie, Betty Boswell, Tommie Glaspie, “Big Son” Glaspie, Sam Glaspie, Joe Glaspie, Emerson Glaspie, Jack Gilbert, Jr and daughter Teresa Evans.
