One of those special people, Elaine Manoy Rodgers, candid, tell it like it is, matter of fact, witty, and kindhearted passed on Sunday, September 24th, 2023. Elaine was better known to her grandkids as Gran and her grandkids she affectionately called “Punkins.” Nothing stood in the way of Gran and her Punkins! She loved her grandchildren (maybe even more than her own kids). She never missed preparing each of her punkins edible nests that she made with Chow Mein noodles & M&M’s for Easter, birthdays at Baskin Robbins or Halloween treats when the time came. Elaine hated taking pictures, she kept organized by keeping items together in zip lock bags. She especially enjoyed being amongst family and friends and made the BEST cabbage you could EVER eat! Elaine lived on her own terms and was something else! Elaine was born September 1st, 1944, to the late Henry Manoy & Helen Wofford Manoy in Frankston, Texas. Elaine was absolutely beautiful. She was a Fox! She was unique, kind and a loving spirited woman. Elaine attended public school at Central High in Larue, Texas. Elaine gave her life to Christ at an early age. She attended Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church for a long while but later settled at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Lubbock Texas. One of her favorite Bible verses is Mark 11:24 “Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it.” Elaine loved the Lord and would talk about him to anyone who would listen. Over the years Elaine lived in multiple states, Texas, California, and New Mexico. She genuinely enjoyed serving others. She was a nurturing and compassionate caregiver as she served as a nursing aide and activities director. Elaine’s memory lives on in the hearts of many people she touched in her long life. Her spirit will be carried on by her children, Carolyn Denise Jordan (Bennie), Pamela Roberson (Victor), Visa “Missy” Johnson and Billy Gibbs. She leaves behind two brothers, Burnis “Mann” Manoy (Evelyn) of Coffee City, TX, Morris Manoy (Jacqueline) of Dallas, TX and one sister Virginia Minor of Sacramento California. Her sweet Punkins include: Quantinette Natasha, Jamar, and KeVondrick Jordan (Denise); Avery, Alize and Arvesha Roberson (Pam), Devin Kiner (Missy), Artorius and Lauren (Billy). Elaine has 12 great grandchildren – Triston Johnson (Natasha); Michiah, Coleman, Bentley, Allyn Branson, Zhander, & Autry Jordan (Jamar), Nichelle Jordan (KeVondrick), Mavis Roberson (Avery), Kylor Phillips (Alize), Keystin Lara and Kodee Roberson (Arvesha). Elaine is reunited with her brother Henry Manoy, sisters Bobbye “Barbara” Gorman, and Betty Manoy. She also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends from every walk of life. Elaine would want you to know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer she couldn’t refuse, for an appointment from which she won’t be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus and a reunion with family and friends she hasn’t seen in a long time. She has been greeted by her Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ where she will be able to sing and praise forever more. Long live her beauty that comes down through and onto all of us.
