Doyle Jerome Moore was born on March 30, 1973 to Ruby Avery-Travenia and Otis Moore in Lubbock, TX. Jerome accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and attended First Progressive Baptist Church. He attended Dunbar High School where he participated in many sports, but his true love was football. He wore the number 86 until he couldn’t play anymore due to the football accident. Jerome was under the care of Dr. Damon Hill, Jr and with his assistance, he was able to get the care he needed. Jerome graduated with the Mighty Panthers in 1991 and then attended Texas Tech University until his health prevented him from finishing. Jerome didn’t let the accident detach himself from the love of the game or from having an active life. Jerome loved shopping with his friends and family and he would ALWAYS have the newest pair of Jordan’s. He was a coach for the MLK little league baseball team along with his cousin. He was a manager for his brother’s music group Strictly Business for a brief time. Jerome also gave his time counseling other spinal cord injury patients in Lubbock with his mother. Jerome met Catrina in 1997 and their relationship blossomed and they married in 2002. They relocated to Rowlett, TX in 2003. Jerome was a true Dallas Cowboys fan and attended games when he was able. He was also a huge SEC Alabama Fan and was able to attend a playoff game in Arlington. Jerome also went to NASCAR Races and attended a Miami Heat Basketball Game. He went on 3 Cruises, traveled to Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida and New Jersey. Jerome and Catrina welcomed their son Camden Jerome Moore in 2020. Being a father made him the happiest man and Camden loved his father.
Just know this: Jerome prayed for his family every day. Jerome loved his family more than you know. He loved giving to the church and to others in need. He never complained about his situation, he just wanted to live life to the fullest. He was very blessed and lived a full life.
When asked ‘would you still play football knowing what you know now’ he would always say yes.
Neh. 8:10 “…for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Jerome demonstrated that strength until his last breath.
