Bobby Norris Sims, 74 of Lamesa passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1 p.m. at St. John Baptist Church, Lamesa. Interment will follow at Lamesa Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Bobby was born to Johnny Lee and Queen Ester Sims on August 6, 1949. He attended Blackshear High School after graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force. After being discharged from the Air Force he moved to Eunice, New Mexico, where he worked for many years at Union Pacific Oil Company and later he worked for the City Department of Eunice, and later on he worked for the Eunice School Department until retirement. After retirement he moved back to Lamesa, where he rejoined St John Baptist Church. That’s the church he grew up in. Bobby was a very active member of St. John Baptist Church where he was the chairman of the Deacon Board. He was a busy, hard working man.He was also very active in the Blackshear Reunion. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones and his church family and friends. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents Johnny L. and Queen Ester Sims, two brothers James Sims and Ross Sims, one sister Georgia Rae Hubbard. Bobby is survived by three daughters Latoya Jenkins, Bianca Penson and Chelsea White, one son Bobby, his sister Wanda Sims, two grandchildren Trinitee and Bruce, nieces Georgetta “Wendy” and Sasha, nephews Vincent and Gregory, many other relatives and friends.
