Artemus Ward Tennison, III, 71 of Lubbock, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitations will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Griffin Mortuary. Artemus Ward Tennison, III was born on April 25, 1952 to Artemus Ward Tennison, II and Ruby Lee Tennison. Artemus worked 45 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was a “Top Notch” employee. He later retired and then served and volunteered within the Community for many years coaching Eastside Baseball and YFL. Artemus cooked and gave away food for many years for the Juneteenth Celebration. He was a “die hard” Cowboy Fan. He was a family man full of integrity raising not one, but two girls and a son. He was an amazing best father, uncle, friend, papa, and husband. And though all of this… it was his way or the highway. Artemus is preceded in death by his parents Artemus Ward Tennison, II and Ruby Lee Tennison,and one sister Robbie McGrew. Artemus leaves to cherish memory, his daughters Malashan Love and Malashon Tennison, his son Artemus Tennison, IV, his sisters Delia Tennison and Autry Monroe, his brothers Jerry Tennison and Michael Tennison, his grandchildren Dalmeshia Tennison, Darius Tennison, Marquis Tennison, Keralee Harris, Ashreann Tennison, Dajonnah Tennison, and Xavier Green, seventeen great grandchild, thirteen nieces, and 21 twenty one nephews, other relatives, and friends.
